Teaching ethics for legal practice

The ISFP program allows 2 and 3 Ls to gain hands on experiences in public or private placements under the supervision of an attorney or judge.  Students may gain one to two units of credit for their work at the placement, and obtain valuable experience as they see their in-class work come to life.

To register for an ISFP after obtaining a suitable placement, students must

  1. Complete the application form
  2. Obtain signatures of both the site supervisor at the placement and a supervising faculty  member
  3. Turn the petition into the Vice Dean’s office for approval prior to classes beginning.

Students who wish to gain one unit of credit shall work a minimum of 8 hours per week and submit weekly journals and time logs to their Faculty Supervisor for 13 weeks.

Students who wish to gain two units of credit shall work a minimum of 16 hours per week, submit weekly journals and time logs to their Faculty Supervisor, and complete a 10-page paper or project related to their field placement for 13 weeks.
